Granted, my hands are on the small side, but it gives you an idea how big the magnolia fruit is. They are probably about 3-4 inches long. The seeds are bright red and shiny, about the size of a kidney bean. I couldn't find any reference to how many seeds are in each fruit, but I'm guessing 50 or more. About half the seeds will germinate and try to grow into the giant (up to 90 feet tall) evergreen trees that grow in the southeastern U.S.
