While visiting the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Bragg yesterday, I couldn't helped be reminded of the saying that the flags aren't waving in the wind, but on the last breath of those who died for it. A sobering thought. As I was taking photos of the flags, it was 5 p.m. and Ft. Bragg played retreat, lowering their main flag on post. As it customary, I turned to face these flags and put my hand across my heart. It was an emotional moment, even though I've heard retreat played thousands of times.
