We currently have 3 Eagle Scout projects in the works in our troop. I helped out at this one Friday night for a few hours. John is building a mobile mini golf set for a local school for severely disabled students. John watches as two adult leaders attach boards to the back of his golf green.
@randystreat He did help build some, but the Boy Scouts make them do this to learn leadership. They do come up with the project, make a proposal (first phase of paperwork), then they design the project. They are in charge of fundraising and buying all the materials they need. Then when they set up a work day, they let everyone know, give a safety brief and tell everyone what to do. When it's all done, there is a ton of paperwork where they have to account for all the finances and their leadership on the project. It's a long process. Then they have to present the whole project to a board for their Eagle Scout rank, so they have to refine their public speaking skills.
