Fall already? by homeschoolmom

Fall already?

It's 90 degrees, it is far from autumn here. First we have to go through hurricane season and autumn will set in sometime in late October. But, the tree in my front yard didn't check the calendar. I think the coldest temp we have had recently is 65 degrees (and that was a cold snap due to rain).
Nice fall color!!

Only in the sixties here for most of the next 10 days. It could have held off just a bit.

Same thing was happening in Flagstaff last week when I was there. I think trees might be stressed for water?

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yes, Hurricane Dorian will hit Florida today or tomorrow and head up the coast to us. We'll probably only get a lot of rain. Hopefully not as much as Hurricane Florence last September.

@blueberry1222 Lots of rain here lately. We had such a mild winter, the trees started budding in February, which is a month or more early. I learned in my son's science class that chlorophyll is not made by the tree after the leaf is made, so the leaves changing is a result of the leaves running out of chlorophyll and letting the natural color show through.

Beautiful fall color. or crimson maple is loosing the leaves faster and earlier this year. might have to do with all the rain and constant wind we're having. temperatures have dropped and I find it very cool. had my heat on today.
