Magnolias in all their glory! by homeschoolmom

Magnolias in all their glory!

For the technique challenge - triptych. She said that as long as one of the photos was recent, it would count. So, here's my triptych magnolia pods. The first picture was taken May 18, when the magnolia trees first started to bloom (the pod is rather little, only 2-3 inches). The middle one was taken July 21 of a fuzzy pod after the petals had fallen (magnolia flowers are very fragile and only last about 24 hours in the extreme heat of the South). The third one was taken Oct. 14 and is a picture of the magnolia fruit bursting from the pod (which is now about 5-6 inches long). The whole process take about 6 months.

See the last phase, that I couldn't add to my triptych:

Thanks for that 3rd pic Lisa. I noticed my magnolias with little red things on them and didn't know what they were. I have not noticed this in the past! Great pics!!

@memoriesbydawn This is only my second fall around magnolia trees, but I have been taking photos of them all summer. Since they are right along the main road through town, I couldn't miss the red fruits glowing in the sunshine.

Lovely triptych, amazing to see the changes, and the shot of the white magnolia flower is especially beautiful.
