Homemade maracas by huvesaker

Homemade maracas

My year ones have English lessons with me...I try and make it as fun as possible. We have been learning about music and today we made our own maracas and had a music time in the classroom...everyone left happy!
We have had rain and cold weather..turned all the streets into a skating rink, loads of accidents. All the busses stood still. Have never known anything like it. We had to keep the school open for the children who couldn't get home...2 hours overtime for me as I refused to drive home. After that time more rain came and made the roads a little safer.
A parent made me cry...then the same parent made another colleauge really sad. I have told them no discussions with that family anymore and if they start say that they contact the headmaster. Sent an email to the headmaster as well. Honestly....

Thought of the day:
Be thankful for that you have
Great fun. I've been on very expensive management courses where they do the same thing!

Your students must love your lessons.

@golftragic they all go out of the lesson wanting to stay! So I guess they do!

I feel for you, it causes so much stress, even when you know you are not to blame personally.

Love the maracas though 😄

@huvesaker That makes you a total teaching success, something which is to be treasured.

You shouldn't have to deal with that family at all, sounds like harassment to me, especially given the power disparity. Maybe you should consider reporting them to the authorities? I'd have you teaching my kids (now 51 and 48!) or grandies (also too old) any day. A teacher who really cares is a national treasure.

@ellida @golftragic I sent an email to the headmaster...he is going to call the parents in to a meeting. Feels better knowing support is there.
