Crucifix

There are no records of the exact when this crucifix was made, but it is presumed to be around 150 years old. A relic of what is believed to be a piece of wood from the True Cross is encased in the lower part above the crossbones and skull while gold thread embroidery adorns the back.

It has been shared with the community and used in annual Holy Week Celebrations in Makati for almost 100 years now.It was the Crucifix of the town and was specifically used by the Hermana Mayores for the pabasang bayan (public chanting of the Pasyon) and brought in the processions.

Today, it has served as an enduring symbol and remnant of the unifying figure of the Hermano Mayor and is continued to be carried in the processions and brought to every Kalbaryo from Holy Wednesday to Good Friday.
