word of the day: saippuakivikauppias Finnish for Soapstone vendor
This statue is clearly not a soapstone, but it is beautiful. The statue is called: "On the top off the World" and was made in 2017 by Herman Lamers. It was an assignment from the municipality of Drunen for the project "de Halvezolenlijn". The Langstraatrailway, popularly called the Halve Zolenlijn, was a railway from Lage Zwaluwe via Waalwijk to 's-Hertogenbosch, which was important for the shoe industry. All kinds of artworks are lined up along the current 51 km cycle route.
