Red kimono

My brother Jimmy was in Japan in 1946-47. He brought these RED silk kimonos home to our mother. They have been packed in trunks for most of their life. I did wear the short one for a presentation on Japan in school. I’ve always thought the hat rather odd for Japan, does anyone know about hats like this? It’s rather artistic to me.

A fabulous shot of you in the beautiful kimono. I have not seen a hat like that in Tokyo, maybe it used to be worn in the country many moons ago. I do know the the Obi is missing from the kimono, the tie belt that keeps it together ;-)

I have wondered about the obi but never remember it having one! I have an obi but it doesn’t go with this I don’t think, it is orange and cream.
