Needle In A Stone Stack

I took this photo in the Precinct of Amun of the Karnak Temple, on the East bank of the Nile in Thebes (modern Luxor), Luxor, Egypt ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnak).

The photo shows the tallest surviving ancient obelisk on Earth, erected by Queen Hatshepsut on or about 1525 BC.

I like the way the obelisk is framed by various stones that have been recently re-erected. The stones show various ancient Hieroglyphics.
