Finished #2

Nadya, my daughter who is studying in Dallas, wants to have this quilt. Yelena, her younger sister who is here in Oman with us, doesn't agree because Nadya already has a quilt.

However, I do not think Yelena should get it either. My next project is to make her a quilt of all the school and activity t-shirts she had in Houston. The problem is that Yelena is still wearing some of the t-shirts...

So for now the quilt is on my bed and I took some pictures.
The middle picture top row is a picture I got from the internet - with Jane's original text "In War Time 1863. Pieces 5602. Jane A Stickle." Jane must have been an incredible lady - designing this quilt (every single block is different) and on top of that she kept track of how many pieces she used!

After deciding to try and make this quilt, I set up an Excel spreadsheet and kept track of the pieces and estimated amount of time I used. However, it would have been very hard to do without a computer.

Unfortunately we do not know when we will see Nadya. I would love to have her here for a little while, but at the moment it is not possible to get her a visa. So if one day we see her (fingers crossed it is still 2020) she might get the quilt...
You sew 5730 pieces of fabric together??? You are amazing. I tip my hat!
Is the lower right hand corner the back of your quilt?
I am astonished!

@monikozi Yes, there were very tiny pieces.... The square block with the most pieces is the yellow one, last row, 4th column. It consists of 49 pieces!
And the lower backhand corner of this collage is the back.

Beautiful collage. I like the quilt on your bed, it looks wonderful and fills your room with gorgeous bright colours. You are clever in doing this and I'm sure the next project will be even more beautiful.

Fascinating story. I think it looks beautiful there on the bed. Love the idea of Yelena's t-shirts becoming her quilt in time. I hope Nadya can come before too long.
