Around the airport and some other stretches on the main street through Muscat have these beautiful streetlights.
And now because of National Day/Month they have put flags too. We are not talking about 100s of flags, rather 1000s!
Before we headed of to Yelena's violin class I asked her if she wanted to take some more pictures. Because it was with the big camera she was more than happy to do it!
I hid the number-plates of the 2 cars. The driver of the Mercedes was quite dangerous. A little later I overtook him and Yelena told me it was an Omani on his phone. It is often easy to see who is driving - Omani's men wear their white dress (dishdasha) and hat (Kumah). People from India mostly wear traditional clothes too and if you see somebody in western clothes you can be 80% sure it is an expat.
i love the curve that tapers off to the sign on the right. fabulous shot. aces!
the light standards have been changed, well, of course, it's been 35 years since i was last there. but i do remember the celebrations during the national day. i think the pubic is invited to see the palace on those days. have you been?
@summerfield I don't think they open the palace for visitors anymore. However, the celebrations last year were quite a thing. Many concerts and activities. This year it will be 50 years, but with the new sultan and Covid nobody really knows what will happen.
