Spool knitting

My theme for this week will be sewing/crafts. For red I thought about red yarn. When I was digging it out of the basket with wool, the spool was attached.

When I was young I did this a lot and made it into small mats/coasters. I'd liked to teach it to my kids, but they were never really interested.
