This is the fort my husband wanted to visit. Google maps tells you that it is open daily from 8.30am to 4pm, but that is not true.
After a little more research it does have a museum, but it is only open to very important people (visiting heads of state).
The white building on the right belongs the the Al Alam Palace and as you can see it is very well protected.... I would not try to get ashore there.... and was surprised that I was allowed to take pictures. Behind me is the Al Mirani Fort and there was a guard.
The Al Mirnani fort is also not open to public.
Both forts were build around 1580 by the Portuguese. There is a lot of info about it. Too much to write here. But if you have time and like history here is a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Jalali_Fort
Beautiful shot . Al Jalali fort looks a very strong fort - pity it is not open to the general public every now and then. I wouldn't get any close to the palace, the area is surrounded by cannon and I can imagine armed soldiers patrolling the whole perimeter.
