Went out today with an idea of what I wanted to do, came back with something completely different. Too windy to do long exposures and saw these tibetan prayer flags flapping away. I turned it into b&w as too grey and overcast but Will be going back there on a sunny windy day
Smashing! I know that with Tibetan prayer flags you are meant to leave them until they disintegrate. We have had some outside the back of the house for twenty years now and they are just about starting to unravel!
@steampowered I'd passed this house loads before and they had disintegrated and they were taken down and I kicked myself for not taking pics - then today I noticed more! I'll give them 6 months in the wind here, but tanks for that as I didn't know :) @heidit I should get some myself and pray for sun!
I recently took photos of prayer flags in my neighborhood. The result was much different. I like your take on it. The B&W and play of light and shadow make it a captivating image.
This is absolutely lovely in B&W, Ingrid -- you've captured the feeling of wind, movement, and impending disintegration. There's something so poignant about tattered prayers. Fav.

Thank you ;) it's funny but these are the only ones I've ever seen! Not a common sight up here, it's made me curious about the person who put them up- giving me more ideas now!
LOL, that happens to me all the time. I have learned to just go out and shoot what compels me. What I do to change things up is change where I walk and change lens. I don't bring extra lens's with me. I choose one and that is what I am stuck with for the excursion. Changes subject material radically sometimes.

Thank you for the lovely comments - i take ages to decide on finished shot but I am glad I did this in b&w - amazing really to have the choice! @studiombkcom So true and with changeable weather you never know what's going to happen! @denidouble Hi and thank you! - do you know Orkney? There's a little house just before you drive onto the 4th barrier and they're at the side of the road. Really lovely - only place I've seen them

Thanks everybody- this gives me the confidence to go with what I really like, it's making my world such a bigger place. When you live on a small island that's a very good thing!
