stairs

very hard to get the lighting right on this, one of the huge disadvantages of a phone camera, areas of extreme dark , still I like the textures - made some enquiries about the owners so it'd be interesting to find some history on this building
Such a cool place, what a find. I can just feel the fatigue of the place, great capture.

An another beautyfull shot. and I''m always surprise that you take these photos with an iPhone! I also love the fact that you didn't do it in B&W. It will be the easiest way. I love the bit of touch of color.

I do like old dilapidated buildings with their peeling and fading paint. The POV is effective, with the central pillar and the winding stairs. Really atmospheric.

Lovely shot, I would like to see a HDR version of the same!

Great shot - what a place - love the opening beyond the stairs!

I like how the stairs show years of treading feet. If they could talk, I bet they would have a lot of stories to tell!

Wonderful textures and composition. I know these things are personal taste, but I've never worried too much about losing areas to black.

An interesting composition with the blue and yellow tones clearly divided.

This is fascinating and I don't think that you can be too hard on your phone cam - it has done a super job!

Great shot - so much texture and character!

I faved it for the splatters of yellow paint and all the old texture.

Great shot Ingrid! You can feel the age oozing out of this photo - love the little glimpse of the outside world through the door frame too! : )

OK.. this is one of my favorites (so far)..the colors, textures, emotions in this shot leave the viewer needing answers yet getting them (i hope that made sense :-)

Thank you all for your comments, I'm finding it really time consuming and we've had Internet problems, so apologies for group thank you. I intend going back here very soon, I don't own a digital camera but I 'm taking part in film-February so really excited about that. The biggest problem with film is obvious- it's nearly impossible to take and upload the same day so am trying to organise how I'm going to work that one out.

@automaticslim Thank you! Loads of old derelict buildings here, they're so expensive to do up that folk just build new which is a shame (she said sitting in her centrally heated concrete box! )
January 27th, 2013
This is great! I love derelict buildings... there are groups that go on the hunt for derelict buildings and then do shoots there... would be fun to join something like that one day!
January 27th, 2013
Great find. Love the texture, lines and atmosphere. Sad and forgotten come to mind.
