Not a very high quality scan - this is from my "new" camera that came home yesterday.It's a Houghton's Ensign Klito 1/4 plate camera, although it was designed to take glass plates I thought I'd be able to use the backs for paper instead.. it can and there's 12 interchangeable plate carriers that saves so much work - it means I can load them all up in safelight rather than grappling in a changing bag. This is Scapa and it was a beautiful calm evening so went there a drive with my daughter and 2 of her friends. The exposure was 1 second and the apperture was f11. I did several tests in the garden this morning and I'm really glad I did as the bellows have tiny light leaks. I temporarily fixed this by wrapping black cloth around but will have to think of a more permanent solution.
I'm so pleased I got a link to work !!! Click below if you want to see an advert for this camera! http://www.historiccamera.com/cgi-bin/librarium/pm.cgi?action=display&login=klito34
I like the sun trying to sneak through the folds of cloud, and the blackness of the land. I love the atmosphere is this, the stillness. and I like that you're shooting on an antique!
Just clicked on that link - that is such a cool camera! Wonderfully serene image - love reading how you get all your wonderful contraptions to produce such fab images! : )) fav
@chewyteeth YES!!! That's what I thought too, 12 backs designed to take glass- £50 - couldn't resist. Been looking at so much on YouTube. Or I was... Laptop is knackered but definately.
@ingrid2101
I've only seen it done on aluminium sheets. I think flammable chemicals have been clamped down on in the post so I don't think it would be easy to get. dunno how flammable it is.
