We came across a colony of nesting arctic terns today, they weren't very happy to see us but after we sat down to watch them from afar, they didn't bother us again.
We were on another coastal walk, weather was bright and very breezy, it was great to see the waves crashing in and we were looking forward to adding a few more miles to our tally. We'd not walked very far when we came across the terns, after looking at them through the binoculars for a while we realised there were one or two chicks there too. It was quite difficult to hold the camera steady in the strong winds but we stayed to watch and photograph them for about 2 hours, I couldn't believe we'd been there so long! Ended up with hundreds of photos that I've still to look at but I picked this little chick as my star tern.
