Bird's eye view

Day twenty one of 30 days wild

We went to Noss Nature Reserve today which is 2 boat trips away from the mainland of Shetland but well worth the effort. It's got high cliffs where the birds nest, there are thousands of them. When we walked to the top of the hill we got some great close-up views of the gannets as they flew past, they looked like they were doing an aerobatic formation display!
Ole blue eyes.

Those markings on the back almost look like a pair of eyes. Lovely capture.

Fabulous shot. I think these are wonderful birds, I have spent time on the cliffs near their nests and like you say they are just amazing airborne and close up.Sounds like you are having a great time up there. I have visited the Orkney's many times, but the Shetlands are on my must-do list.

A gorgeous shot, the background seems to be floating behind this crisp clear figure.

@markp I'm sure you'd love Shetland, so much to see but plenty of time to enjoy it with the light nights at this time of year, we haven't stopped since we've been here!
