A hidden treasure

The last heritage tour today, we stepped back in time at one of Liverpool's best-kept architectural secrets, the Athenaeum.

One of the country's oldest and most distinguished clubs, it was founded in 1797 as a place for Liverpool's merchants and traders to meet, share and talk about the news of the day.

Stepping into the foyer, I loved the look of the elegant curved staircase so was delighted that we ended up in the dining room on the top floor where I took this photo looking down.
Wonderful capture Fav

I am quite jealous. I want to take a shot of a spiral staircase but have not found a suitable one yet! This is great, especially with the red carpet
