Machair by inthecloud5

Machair

A beautiful sunny day so we walked to the top of the highest point on the south of the island where we got the most amazing views over Harris. We could even see St Kilda on the horizon, where we were yesterday.

I took this as we came back down the hill, the wild flowers that grow near the beaches looked so colourful. The Gaelic name for this is machair, it's fertile grassland covered in wild flowers at this time of year and is only found in exposed coasts of Scotland and Ireland.

When we were at the top of the hill we watched three eagles soaring above us. Incredible to see.

Thank you for all your recent comments and favs, I really appreciate them.
