We went on the Mersey ferry to see the return of the clipper ships that set off last August on their round the world adventure.
After weeks of hot and dry weather, the conditions were quite different today. I doubt the crews minded too much, after crossing the world's oceans a few waves on the Mersey wouldn't cause too much trouble.
This is the view we had of Liverpool's waterfront, the clippers were sailing past the cruise liner in the distance.
Edited in black and white as it seems to add to the drama of the weather :-)
Quite a different day to when we were watching them depart last August
