We headed to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science yesterday. We saw a cool 3D movie about pandas and went through a few exhibits, and then went to nearby City Park and set up for a picnic. That's when one of my girls said, "Hey mom, what kind of bird is that up there in that tree?" I looked and nearly dropped my jaw. I grabbed my camera, had a look, and then got up and completely ditched my family to get a closer look. He was very inquisitive and just sat there watching me. My guess is that he is a young red-tailed hawk. I am guessing young mostly because of the way he acted. It was an amazing an unexpected sight, considering where I was.
Absolutely stunning photograph! I would kill to get a picture like this ... beautifully captured and I'm sure it was a juvenile - they're not as quick to leave as the adults - still in their "dumb" phase lol.
