Drip Dry by islambad

Drip Dry

When the butterflies emerge they hang upside down from the chrysalis or a nearby surface to harness gravity & complete the emergence process. The wings appear folded or crinkled and the butterfly must begin the process of expanding and drying its wings before flight is possible.

Liquid is pumped from the body into the wings to help them take shape. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for a butterfly’s wings to completely dry.
what an amazing feat. Thanks to your wonderful photos I have told my son in London about the exhibition. It will be great for my little grandson to see such beautiful insects
