Geraniums by the front door by ivan

Geraniums by the front door

As time's gone by - and we get a bit older! - we have simplified the garden. Less border plants and annuals, more pots. Easier to water and maintain!

This pot, which I showed last year, is by our front door. Geraniums and verbena. I'll probably show some more pots soon.

Thanks for all your interesting comments, not least on the sad state and decline of English football. I cannot see this changing with the current leadership, and the way we structure things. Stuart Pearce (former England Under 21 manager) has had some interesting things to say on this: http://talksport.com/football/other-countries-must-look-england-and-laugh-stuart-pearces-damning-verdict-after-uruguay Basically that players should take part in the Under-21 etc tournaments to get international tournament experience. Worth a read/watch (video).

Sorry to go on about football! I'm hoping to catch up with all your postings and responses during this afternoon.

Very colorful arrangement and presentation

Beautiful arrangement, Ivan. And the pot enhances the beauty of the flowers. I, too, am finding it difficult to cope with the garden. Too many weeds to pull out and it seems that the time to dedicate to the garden gets always shorter.

@sangwann Yes, maybe it is just not so novel and we have other things we prefer to do, Dione!

@bobhuegel Thank you Bob. USA play S Korea later today in Manaus, in the jungle - hot and steamy I'm afraid! I hope they do well, they are a good team, not specially talented as individuals (except goalkeepers), but good as a team.

@bobhuegel That's actually Portugal in Manaus tonight, Bob! Go USA!

You asked me about Italy. I'm not sure I would bet on them or on Uruguay. They both played a lousy game against Costa Rica - in my opinion Costa Rica is not such a great team - and they both won against England. Basing on the England game I would favour Uruguay, but you cannot say with Italy. They are used to coming out victorious in situations like this.

@sangwann You are right, Italy are used to pressure, Vialli says they eat it for breakfast! Anyone's game! Nice to correspond, Dione. Football makes the blood course!

I remember that pot from last year, a beautiful display. I haven't read the article but I do feel England is not the great footballing nation it was. Where is all the home grown talent?
