Hascombe church, Surrey, England: painting of Joseph the carpenter (Tina's photo, my edit)

I'd planned to post this image of Joseph the carpenter from the series of photos, taken on our recent visit to Hascombe church in Surrey, to mark Pentecost Sunday - an important spiritual day for Christian believers.

Although today has been overshadowed by the dreadful events in on London Bridge and Borough Market in London, I thought I would still like to share it.
Beautiful painting

Indeed. Nothing should be able to take away form the relevance of our spiritual beliefs and significant events - indeed they become all the more important as long as they enrich us and lead us to greater compassion and desire for peace rather than the opposite.

Are you sure that's not a painting of joseph, Jesus' appointed father? It says Joseph on the left side and the man's beard is grey displaying old age, something Jesus never reached due to sacrificing himself for all of us. Regardless of discrepancies great post, thank you for sharing.

Beautiful capture. Like I said on Fb I think we need more of Jesus in our lives in these turbulent times.

@clover7 I think you are right, hadn't realised Joseph was a carpenter as well, but that's logical. Missed the name. Thank you for writing.

Love the representation of the craft, with the jagged saw and heavy hammer!
