Burren stone wall

Overlooking Galway bay. I dont know what purpose these wall's served, they criss cross the Burren . There are no domestic animals to found there only wild goats.

Could be like this part of Kansas where I am - stone fences also served to mark boundaries and as a place to pile up the stones cleared from the land they wanted to plow and to cultivate. I love the image. It's going in my favorites.

What does it really matter that they serve no purpose other than being a gorgeous horizontal sculpture?! I'm impressed that someone saw fit to build something so lovely!
