The town of Clifden In Galway is not very old by Irish standards . it was founded by John D'Arcy about 1812. His thinking was that Connermara should have a capital. This was taken from a monument erected in D'Arcys memory. The mountains behind the town are the 12 Bens.
Worth a visit if you ever find yourself that far West
He chose a very scenic place, but maybe a bit isolated - it looks like there is one road in and one road out. I like the balance between the buildings, sky and landscape.
How brilliantly picturesque that "little" town is! I don't know where Shazzy is from, but what fun that one of our community members would have often visited here! Someday Ken and I would love to visit your part of the world!
