Castle Taylor was home to the Shawe Taylor Family, They were Anglo Irish landlords, who owned large tracts of land in County Galway, The difference with this family was that one of them John Shawe Taylor who died at 45 in 1911 was one of the negotiators of the act which saw tenants being allowed to purchase their lands.
