Staithes Yorkshire by jack4john

Staithes Yorkshire

The wonderful seaside village of Staithes in Yorkshire is one of the most photogenic places you can find, which is saying something as the towns of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are quite close. This is where Captain James Cooke started his seafaring . This was taken a few years ago , but given a square format makeover today.
I love the tones and textures!

Well done on the composition --- the coloring is superb. I really liked that you went with showing more of the town then the sea. I can see this in a travel magazine. FAV

This is so beautiful! Took me a while to realize this is the real village, not some perfectly done miniature. Brilliant composition and colors, definitely a fav!

What a great shot John. I love the colour tone and your POV. The image is so inviting and makes me want to visit there, so I'm going to have to the next time I'm over that way. Because I like this shot so much make I offer some critique on two areas of the shot that hit me straight off: The horizon slopes on the right hand side, and the sea has a large overexposed area. Both these can be fixed with a photo editing program. Never the less it's a fav.

@gamelee thanks Lee and I agree, Those was taken I think in 2008, probably on full automatic, so exposed for the foreground, I came across the original (maybe cropped) on a old hard drive, put it on the phone and used snapped and instagrm, it just brought back to me a great day about 3 hours because of heavy cold showers wandering about Staithes before heading back to Whitby for fish and chips washed down with tea. I love the north of England so enjoy your shots and plan to go again soon..

So much history in this wonderful little port. To think this is where he learnt his seafaring skills to discover Oz.
