seascape in the style of Hiroshi Sugimoto?

so I decided to take up the artist challenge. after watching Hiroshi Sugimoto on youtube and looking at his work on the suggested sites I drove out to the lake at the metropark (near @hippiechick13 ) shot what I could as I have no filters and long exposure on a beautiful day like today isn't really possible, working in lightroom (which the original artist wouldn't call art at all : (
here is my attempt at a seascape in the style of Sugimoto. Please be honest and critique this even harshly if you feel it needs it. Sugimoto is quite an interesting person...watch him work if you get a chance!
I don't have enough knowledge to critique. I like the shot! were you at Stony Creek? Metro Beach?

@hippiechick13 thanks for the compliment. If you haven't looked at his work you should take a peek if you get a couple of minute...pretty fascinating for being so minimal

I wouldn't be harsh, but at first I thought it boring from what you normally do, but the more I looked at the more I actually found it interesting and thiught...thus would look good framed and hung. Nice work.

@flygirl that's what I first thought of the original artist's work when I looked at it until I researched him and how he does his photography...I don't have the knowledge, equipment or money he has to do what he does but I can fake lots of things ; ) thanks for the fav...you might take it away after seeing the originals : )

I love his seascapes and their sense of peace and harmony. I think you have caught the spirit. I must get out and try my hand but I have a major issue - sensor dust! My skies are going to look just terrible. Right now I am waiting for some appropriate weather and putting my camera through a cleaning cycle every five minutes in the hope of dislodging some dust. It is actually making me tearful...

I love that, shades of grey but in a good way!

i think this works really well for the artist challenge! i think you've caught the serene feeling really nicely... i didn't have a chance to watch the videos yet, but i did look at his gallery (and ended up posting something quite similar to this) and i think you've emulated his style really well...

@runestone @steveandkerry @northy thank you all. I can't help thinking that Sugimoto would laugh... Beth hope your camera shakes that dust!

I love the simplicity of composition and the minimalism of this shot - manufactured or not. Thanks for the steer to Sugimoto. I will embrace the mist in future.

it's amazing how some very simple shots could evoke emotions or debate. in any case, don discount your photo, it is perfect for the challenge. but have you heard or seen this photograph? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhein_II - that's the most expendsive photograph ever. you never know, someone might see your photo and would buy it! :-)
