group text messages in my family are usually lighthearted but the one we had hoped to never read came through on Friday morning. Mom fell, my sister and brother-in-law got her up and into her chair but a trip to the bathroom when she couldn't walk on her own made the decision for them to call an ambulance. the diagnosis, several hip fractures in her right hip. at 98 this is sort of expected, a simple loss of balance, a soft-ish fall and all kinds of damage (bruising in several areas). miraculously no surgery. sub-acute care will be challenging. she takes everything like a champ.
