I think this is a female judging by the google description. They have more and darker markings than the males. I borrowed my friend's very long very heavy lens to shoot this all the way out at 600mm. I won't be buying one soon. so heavy. We saw two in the thumb of Michigan's mitten. the first was a sleepy eyed creature but this one was alert, eyes wide and spinning her head the full 270 degrees it could go!
@amyk we were in Sebewaing area. Sebewaing and Bayport Roads. I bet you'd find one. We actually saw cars pulled over (other photographers) in the two spots they were at. Take a ride!
