I believe this is the first landscape I've uploaded onto 365. This was taken last night as I drove home to Scotland. It's a scene I know very well, but one I love, so I stopped to take a picture! It's the Clunie valley, and the river runs down to join the Dee at Braemar. It's just about 5 miles from my dad's home - and this one is for him as its his 80th birthday today
@ianrm Thanks! I could and should have stopped and taken many more photographs yesterday - the light was fantastic! However, it was a long drive from Sheffield to Ballater! This is one of my favourite views when returning home from down south.
@nairda@sheilag@pixiemac Thanks everyone. I kept questioning the format of this photo - so took various versions. More sky, less land; , with the river, without the river, landscape, portrait; wee house on the edge or more in the centre ... It's a minefield out there!
Beautiful landscape! Fav. I hope to visit Scotland one day; I have roots there but have no idea who my family could be, if there are any there anymore. And a happy birthday to dad!
@cmsfk70@thebluegnu Thanks ladies. You should definitely get yourself over here some day Cindy - it is beautiful. If you're really lucky you might also get nice weather - but that is far from guaranteed!
@sansjuan@brillomick@jo13 Thanks guys - it was such a pleasure to be in that spot to take that photo on such a nice day - it's not always like that, as you might imagine!
Lovely composition with the stream in the foreground, the group of trees and little house further back, and the hills in the distance and as you said, lovely light.
