Red Winged Blackbird by jamibann

Red Winged Blackbird

A trip to Brazos Bend National Park yesterday with an old friend gave me lots of photo opportunities, starting with this red winged blackbird sitting high above the swamp waters.
He looks great against the lovely layers of the landscape.

I like how you've isolated the bird from the background. Good shot Issi.

This is a lovely shot. I like how the little bird stands out against the more muted colours.

Sweet space here. Did you try cropping this to see the birdie clearer?

This is great! I love the call these birds make... So distinctive.

I'm chuckling because I was thinking I'd set out in search of a red-winged black bird myself today. There's a nice fence row down the road so I'm hoping some bird will do me a favor and perch on one for a minute or so. This guy here cooperated nicely for you!

Very eye-catching! Whenever I hear the RWBBs singing, I know spring has arrived! :)

I just learned of the red wing blackbird two weeks ago. Yes, I'm not very "birdly." Nice dof.

Great spot! I've seen these guys around but I've never been able to capture one.

I love how it's absolutely centre-shot, Issi - and the way the background fades away behind.

@genealogygenie @gamelee @joeymc @randystreat @ziggy77 @seejillrun @sheilag @juliedduncan @cmc1200 @dgrynn @squaresparrow @tristansmum @sansjuan Thanks everyone! @amandal I did think of doing that Amanda, but wanted something a bit different, and I liked the tones of the 'landscape'. Also, birdie wasn't quite sharp enough to want to highlight him any more. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'm ALWAYS open to ways to improve/change photos. :-) @lyndemc Hope you found one Lynne!

@trishaclancy Thanks Trisha ... I'm not that great at it, but I do like it! Some good opportunities here in Texas too, so I make the most of it.
