Conkers by jamibann

Conkers

Well, I don't know if you played conkers at school or not, but I certainly did! No-one seems to gather them these days - I picked these up from the road outside our house and took them home for a photo shoot!
Lovely shiny specimens

Nice image but must admit I never played conkers

Yep, I played conkers with my brothers when we were young. I think 'health and safety' rules in schools prevent kids playing conkers nowadays. I love your dof on this shot - it really focuses on the conkers and gives the grass that soft feel.

I'd never heard of this til 365, but someone posted these last year. It sounds like a fun game -- lovely shot of them as well.

Well, here's the day's 'new thing learned'... I'd not heard of the game "Conkers" so I looked it up. Oh, the simple things we used to be entertained by! Hopefully there are still kids out there that play it. Your arrangement here is a nice one.

Lovely capture, brings back childhood and the pain of whacked knuckles, ( the boys were really vicious).!

Nice POV. Did not play. Don't have these trees around us.

Love the pov here and the gloss. I never played conkers, but I know my dad did when he was growing up in England. Fav for this.

Not heard of the game. Are these Chestnuts or Buckeyes as we have a similar tree here!!

@brillomick These are, what we call, Horse Chestnuts. Not to be confused with the edible Sweet Chestnuts which have a different shell. Never heard the name buckeye, but might be the same thing!
