Magnolia Seed Pod by jamibann

Magnolia Seed Pod

Who knew? I discovered only this autumn that the seed pods on my magnolia tree burst open to produce these beautiful red seeds. How could I have missed that before? 365 fairly opens your eyes.
Wow - I didn't know this either. What a great image.

You're right. I heard once that to grow, the seeds have to first be ingested by a squirrel.

I like the pattern in this -- did you look at it as a b&w at all?

lol.... from the thumbnail view I was expecting this to be some sort of cranberry sweet bread! What color the magnolia has this time of year.

@lyndemc Ha ha! I left this pod sitting outside on the granite bench after the photography shoot, and after a few days the red seeds are still popping out all over the place. I can't think how I never noticed these before. They are so 'in your face'!
