TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
William Blake
Back from our Rajasthan cycling holiday now, I am beginning to sort through my many photographs. This was the absolute highlight of the week for me. We visited Ranthambore National Park on Wednesday morning, and just as we were driving out of the park thinking all the tigers were still in bed, we had the immense good fortune of seeing this guy amble in front of our safari vehicle. He was magnificent. I was shaking with emotion and excitement when I was taking the pictures. It was no easy feat as there was another safari vehicle in front and I was right at the very back of ours - having to lean out over the side, with my husband holding on to me to make sure I didn't fall out! I even managed to damage my ribs in so doing. I'm still suffering, but it was well worth it!
Just no jumping out!!! LOL. This poem by Blake was part of my exit exam for my Master's degree, and I cannot even think of it without Blake's masterful drawings. Have you seen them? Lovely catch and rest up! Miss you!
@jamibann He printed his poems as etchings (in color). Quite fascinating. This link shows you some of the pages of the poem collections. You have to scroll down the page until you hit Blake. I saw the originals, but can't remember in what museum or in what country! http://bibliodyssey.blogspot.com/2011_11_20_archive.html?m=1
Oh my gosh -- that was quite an effort, but so paid off!! Hope the pain is now gone. This is fabulous to have seen in person! And your details, wow! Fav.
What an AMAZING picture of this gorgeous cat!!!! His coat looks so lush and soft. The grass frames him perfectly. Way t'go, risking life and limb to get this photo!!
Nothing short of a SENSATIONAL moment, Issi!!! THANK YOU for accepting the injury to bring us this photo of **A TIGER IN THE WILD**!! Imagine!!! I don't believe this happens often!
Having just caught sight of your Taj photo I have been scrolling back over your Indian pictures. Amazing! What an experience. What a beautiful creature you have seen here, who could endanger such wonderful animals? fav
