Aberdeen Beach by jamibann

Aberdeen Beach

I had an appointment in town yesterday, so went for a stroll along the beach afterwards. I still find it a nostalgic and strangely melancholic thing to do as it brings back memories of happy, youthful days when the kids were toddlers and we spent lots of time here. Yesterday the tide was out, the sea was calm and the supply boats were lined up on the horizon waiting on work.
You transmit the feeling of melancholy very well with this b&w image. Fav

When we were there last week there were only 5 ships sitting offshore which was the least number I'd ever seen.

@lifeat60degrees There were at least a dozen yesterday. I believe they sit there because it's cheaper than paying to go into the harbour.

Maybe the b&w gives it a melancholy air? (I admit I have never felt melancholy on a beach and now I would love just to be able to walk better on one.)

Lovely capture textures, colours and memories.

@jamibann It also seems that a good number of them are now using Montrose as it is a lot cheaper.

I have never been to Aberdeen although my brother lived there for a while years ago. You never think of it having a beach! The rocks look like great big limpets.

Super pov, such an interesting shot.

That's lovely. I haven't walked there for ages. It's always busy both onshore and offshore.
As a student I was often there with friends and have a rope and shells piece of art on our stairway that I sourced on the beach. Must revisit!
