The Dee in Spate ... again by jamibann

The Dee in Spate ... again

Our local river is high again. We're experiencing a double whammy with melting snow and fresh rain - the exact conditions that caused the floods of 2015. There are a lot of nervous people in the village keeping an eye on it. Another two days of significant rain forecast for today and tomorrow. Fingers crossed for little or no flooding.
The menacing skyline, which fades to white over the bridge, accentuates the troublesome scene - the expanse of water looks threatening. Fingers crossed for you too.

Great pov and processing. These are difficult times, but there used to be spring floods every year. Stay safe.

It's up very close to the bottom of the bridge. Given that the rivers flow through areas with close tall hills, I can understand how folks are nervous. Do I recall your father's home was flooded in that last flood?

@randystreat Yes, in 2015, dad had a bit of flooding, but nothing serious. Our house here was ok, fortunately, but because there were so many people looking for somewhere to live after the floods, we loaned our house to a family ... thinking it might be for a month or two. It turned out to be almost a year before their house was ready to move back into. We still talk about the period when the 'flood refugees' were living in our house. It tested our characters not to have access to our own house for such a long time, but we were living abroad then and only had to sacrifice on our time spent at home. A small sacrifice to make really.

Great photo. We were attending a funeral at Baldarroch, Banchory, on Tuesday and driving along Deeside Road we noticed how high the water level was.

I think we will be experiencing similar feelings when our 30+ inches of snow starts to melt. Hoping all stays safe and unflooded in your neighborhood.
