I went upstairs this morning, to find the sun shining off the glass on our balcony ... highlighting the shape of a very lucky bird! Looks like he took a real beakdive into the glass, and apparently got away with it! Not a small bird - probably a large crow. I was amazed at the detail of the wing tips and the breast feathers.
What an amazing find Issi. I would have thought this to be a composite image if I had not read your comments. What a shock this would have been for him.
This occurance happens regularly on just one of our windows, must be hundreds of times over the past few years. And only ever one casualty. Not easy to capture the resulting oily image. Nice one.
That bird may have CTE like the football players. Hope there are not a rash of bird murders soon. Nah, just kidding. This is an amazing image. I'm glad I read a few of the other comments. My experience with birds and windows are chips, so I was interested in reading that it could be an oily residue I'm looking at.
The rough crash does leave interesting residue! Every so often a dove will fly into our sliding door glass, and the detail is amazing. I'm relieved when I don't find the bird on the doorstep, but I have to wonder at the headache when I can make out the face and beak on the glass!
