Thank you so much for commenting on my photo of Charlie's grandfather in his WWI uniform. He was an interesting man. He emigrated to the United States from Denmark as an infant. He at one time was a real deal cowboy. He didn't get married until he was 40. He slept on the porch of his South Dakota farm. In his 80's, he went for his daily walk , came home, sat down, and died shortly thereafter. He was a frugal man, so I suppose this was an Army photograph. I would be surprised if he had paid a private studio.
