The first time I was invited to Clare's family's house for dinner was also the first time her older brother's girlfriend (now his wife of 40 years) was invited to the house for dinner. Mom served spaghetti, which was the unanimous request of Clare and her brother. My future-sister-in-law and I both believed it was the parents' test of our table manners to see how we'd eat the spaghetti. We both tried very hard to *not* eat it like this. :)
@rhoing I had the same experience of being tested out in someone's home with spaghetti! I was 19 years old but had never had spaghetti before, so it was a serious challenge!! Ah Jane, this image made me smile :)
