White Sands National Park, New Mexico, USA

“Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield.”
~National Park Service website~
Such a unique place. I was surprised to learn that the water level is only about 2 feet below the area of dunes with plant life.

Thanks so much for your comments about my photo of White Sands National Park. For decades it was White Sands National Monument, but just in this month of December, it was redesignated White Sands National Park. This should bring more attention to it.
