Velvety smooth ink flows onto paper, and I slow. I enjoy the experience of writing with a fountain pen. Glass bottles aligned, a rainbow of colors at my fingertips. Forest green, skies of blue, regal purple, rich claret. I draw up the ink. I think of the history, the documents signed and books written with fountain pen in hand; and I connect with the past. Swirls of ink form each letter, fluid and effortless; and I savor each stroke. What a lovely gift from that husband of mine. I’d forgotten the pure joy of a fountain pen; but it’s all coming back to me now.
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
This is quite remarkable against black - do like the tones you processed this in - and the whole experience of a fountain pen - had nearly forgotten. Lovely share. (Our kids would say - "What's that?")
@milaniet You're right about the kids, Milanie! :-) Thank you for your kind comment. I am so enjoying this fountain pen. The purple ink is luscious...can't wait to try the other colors.
Stellar image, Janet. The antique look you gave it through editing (I"m assuming) is perfect for the subject matter. And as always your accompanying words are beautiful as well. Sweet and thoughtful husband you've got there. :)
What a wonderful gift and so beautifully captured. Loved reading your story and how much this means to you. Would love to see some of your writing with this lovely gift. My penmen ship is not so good, but I appreciate those that do enjoy this lost art. I don't think they even teach cursive writing in school any longer. How sad.
@eyesmile Thank you kindly for your comment and fav, Gena! I agree with you that it is quite sad that cursive is no longer taught in schools. I remember fondly the specially lined paper that helped us learn the proper slant.
So timely to see your shot! I love your commentary, I have a similar feeling to when I use my calligraphy pens, which have sat idol for a long time. I was just thinking about them the other day. Your shot is gorgeous, and inspiring. I will be digging everything out, asap.
i'm sure the manufacturer would be interested in this very clever shot for advertising purposes. Never my friend as always end up with an inky finger for some reason! Enjoy your new writing implement.
Wonderful close-up and narrative ...What a thoughtful gift from your husband! Writing done with this type of pen is always so beautiful; I enjoy seeing the strokes.
