How wonderful ...and your caps are very nicely done! I haven't done any crochet in ages, but it is a lot of fun to crochet something and watch the project shaping up! Thanks for giving the link to Knit for Kids; I had never heard of them, but they certainly sound like a worthwhile project.
What a great idea and they're such pretty colours too, well done you. This has brought back a lovely memory for me of my Grandmother who passed away many years ago when I was 14. She was a real lady who couldn't bear the thought that poor children overseas didn't even have the basics to cover their modesty so she used to sew pretty underwear to be sent out to them. She always included nice lace edging to make them look nice. Thanks for reminding me of something I had long forgotten Janet.
@sdutoit Thank you for your comment and fav, Sylvia! I've been crocheting for quite a while, too. My Mom taught me when I was 5. Hard to believe that was 49 years ago!
@dsp2 Thank you so much for your kind comment. These little caps work up in about an hour, and it is really fun to watch them take shape. I've been sending knitted and crocheted caps and sweaters to Knit For Kids for years, and I can't help but think of the recipients and and pray they are well.
@paulaw Paula, your story touches my heart. What a very special lady your Grandmother was. I can imagine how much joy she brought to those who received her handmade gifts. And to add the lace? Such a sweet, thoughtful gesture. Thank you for sharing your lovely memory.
These are beautifully knitted. I used to knit teddy's for tragedies, these knitted teddies in drawstring bags were sent out to disaster areas alongside medical equipment. They were given to children to aid their recovery. Sadly the shop I used to take them too stopped taking them as their contact stopped making the journeys to such areas.
@lhart Lynne, the teddies sound precious. What a comfort they surely were for the children who received them. Thank you for commenting on my infant caps and for sharing your story about the sweet teddies.
@yeshanghai I used to belong to a knitting group in Shanghai, China. All the knitted goods were donated to the needy and orphanages. I miss knitting very much and will check out the link. Thanks.
@yeshanghai Thank you for your kind words about my infant caps! The knitting group you belonged to in China sounds quite special. Perhaps Knit For Kids will be a good incentive for you to pick up your needles again. As you said, it is very rewarding. Happy knitting! :-)
These are wonderful and love the cheery colors you chose. What a great idea to post this shot here - perhaps other talented people will add this to their list. I know the need must be great.
Aren't these just darling. I like the way you arranged them around the center circle, and also included a piece of loose yarn on the side. It lends a "to be continued" to the story. I need to learn to crochet hats!
A great cause to knit for, and a beautifully composed picture. At first I though you were showing us an enormous and gorgeous knitted flower. Fav for me.
@lyndemc Great to hear from you, Denise! I hope you are well and that you're enjoying your break. Thank you for commenting on my infant caps. I appreciate your kind words. Crocheting would surely be a fun new hobby for you! :-)
@olivetreeann Thank you so much, Ann! I love Knit For Kids. It's never too late to learn how to knit (they also accept crocheted items). Perhaps one day you'll give it a whirl! :-)
