Every Spring, Pennsylvania’s woodlands come alive with the creamy white bracts of wild dogwoods. The closed bracts (modified leaves) serve as protective bud scales during Winter. Open, they resemble petals as they surround the less showy, green flower clusters. Of all our beautiful wild dogwoods, this one catches my eye most as it glows just beyond the deck outside the kitchen window. This morning's showers deepened the colors and intensified the fragrance of our wooded hillside, and the songs of waking birds joined the pitter patter of the raindrops.
Gorgeous - especially enlarged against black. Love dogwoods - the blooming stage doesn't last nearly long enough to get many pictures. Love your raindrops holding below the branch.
This is beautiful Janet as are all your images. I have enjoyed following your Project so much, both the images and the words. Thank you for all the kind and thoughtful comments, they are very much appreciated. Take care.
