Day Trip by janetb

Day Trip

We loved our day trip last Saturday so much that we drove 2-1/2 hours to Benezette in Elk County again today to see Pennsylvania's wild elk herd. We saw eight majestic elk this time, but it's not just the elk that draw us. The picturesque roads we travel to reach Winslow Hill Elk Viewing Area take us through charming small towns, deep valleys, and wooded mountains.

Political signs dot the landscape, and this particularly patriotic display caught our eyes each time we passed it. The vibrant splash of red, white and blue stood out among autumn's color palette and made an unusual backdrop for the still pretty roadside wildflowers.
I really like your dof in this. My husband and I love to take rides to look at our beautiful nature.

that flower in the foreground is magical. And a very unusual backdrop which I wouldn't have known if you hadn't explained (although I think I am happier without the politics either side of the pond!) I hope we will get to see the Elk too.

Nice close up of QA lace. I remember going elk calling once in Saskatchewan Canada and it was a thrill of a life time.

nicely isolated...almost looks like an on-looker in a scene!

Awesome DOF and image capture, as I found myself wondering exactly what the item in the rear of the image is, while appreciating the wonder of a single plant withering in the sunlight. Had you used a smaller aperture, we would probably have focused our attention on the rear of the photo. Well done.

Just the right amount of DOF used here :)
