Years ago, they'd prop up the community's enormous, live Christmas tree in front of the municipal building. Now, they put it up in Plum Creek Park; and I like it better. At the park, I'm able to get a close look at its pretty ornaments without traffic whizzing by. In honor of the wild plum trees that grew ages ago along the banks of Plum Creek, most are purple or gold — our community's colors. How I wish those wild plum trees still grew! I'd saunter over and pick a few. Often.
There was a time when I'd have edited the ornament — removed the evidence of curious birds, strived for a bit of perfection. But why? Real life's messy. It's not easy to do — this accepting of what is; but on some days, it's easier than others.
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
— Psalm 118:24
