What's Left

We left the ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ echinacea standing in the kitchen garden to feed Goldfinches over the winter. Lucky us, we got to watch one of the perky little birds dining on its seeds one day when we found ourselves in just the right place at just the right time. What a treat! Now the plant pokes up out of the 11 inches of snow we got from Winter Storm Gail, and who can believe it was nearly 50° only a week ago? The pointy hats on what’s left of the seed heads made us laugh when we opened the door this morning, and laughter first thing in the morning is extra special.
Laughter in general is oh so necessary - I like your composition and DoF.

The snow is so beautiful. Too bad we won’t be seeing snow this year because we are back on mandatory lockdown.
